On Wednesdays, Jett, Deklan and I have been enjoying meeting up with Teda for their chapel service that's held in the auditorium of their school. It's a time where they get to sing songs to Jesus, sometimes the kids choir sings a few songs, and then a speaker comes and says a few words to the kids. It's SO neat. It's usually kindergarten through 5th grade, but sometimes it's K-12th grade. On those days, we get to see Zach too.

There were some Christmas decorations up- gingerbread men- they were just Jett's size. He went up and gave this one a hug. These are the times I remember that he's still 2. He talks like he's 4, but he's still only 2!

Santa was at Joy one morning, and after we took the kids to school Jett and Dek got to sit on his lap. He gave Jett a candy cane, and he was SO excited!

Deklan even smiled with Santa! :)

I just have to say that I really love that our kids get to go to Joy. It's such an amazing school, with wonderful teachers and staff, and awesome families and students. I feel so thankful that Zach is able to teach there, that Teda gets to go there (and she thinks it's SO cool that her daddy works there), and that we get to be a part of something so neat. It's so awesome that Teda is not only hearing about Jesus and learning about the Bible from us, but it's being reinforced at school. And she's hearing the same things there that she is at home. That is so huge. And she's totally getting it. She really loves and trusts her teacher, and knowing that her teacher gets to share these things at school with her about faith and truth- there just aren't words to explain how amazing this has been for our family.
She came home just before her Christmas program and told me that Christmas isn't about getting things, but it's about giving. Her Christmas program was a little musical about giving, and all that practice for it really helped her to realize that it's more important to give than to receive. She even told me after giving something to someone that she felt so good in her heart. Of course, she still enjoys getting things- she LOVED getting gifts at Christmas. But this is one of the first times she seems to really be getting it. And I know that is in huge part because the things we're teaching her at home are being reinforced at school by the teachers and adults she loves and trusts.
Although Teda did tell me the other night that she'd rather just not go back to school. In her words. she's been having fun just going to people's houses and hanging out. She said that when she's at school, she has to do work like write all the time.... poor girl. This is only the beginning. :) She really does love school, but she's been really enjoying having all of us home (including Daddy, which is HUGE) and just having lots of special time together. Her and Dane are getting along so well too- it's been such a great time. But, come Monday- it's back to life, back to reality... I love that song. :)
