Go Golden Goblins!

Dane got to play flag football this fall season, as a gift  from his grandma and papa. He's had a great time, loving playing on a team, he's been a source of excitement, fun, and encouragement to his team, and he's learning so much about the game and how it's played. He's pretty fast too! He loves the whole experience: setting out his uniform days before his game, counting down the days until gameday, picture day, the day when we brought snacks, any reason to celebrate- he's there.... he enjoys all his teammates and the connection he now has with them because they're teammates and friends, helping his teammates up when they get hurt- he's always the first on the scene when someone is hurt, giving us the thumbs up from the field when he makes eye contact with us, giving his friends Stuart and Joshua the thumbs up as they run down the field... they are his friends on another team. :)

When he played their team, he told his teammate he was sad. She asked why (yes, she- she's the only girl on the team and she is GREAT at this game... one of the better players!), he told her that he's not sure how he's going to be able to play and beat his friends because they're on the other team... so he was torn. We explained the difference between friendship and competition. You can still be friends with someone and compete against them, and do your best no matter what! He's still not sure on that one.

It's been fun watching him and his personality come out this season. He loves the idea of being on a team, having a uniform, and of course getting a snack after the game. All in all... it's been a great experience for all of us, and we're so happy he chose to play this season! :)

Here are some pictures my mom took of him playing a few games ago. So fun!

He spotted grandma, and had to wave. He just HAS to... it's pretty precious. :)

Little stud!

I LOVE the names on the backs of the jerseys. This is maybe my favorite part of it all... seeing his name .

Huddle up!

Getting his game face on...

Run!
