Visit to Grandma Bonnie's house

On our way home from Disneyland, we stopped at Zach's grandma Bonnie's to stay the night there and spend some time with her. It was a short trip, but we had a great time. The kids love her, and we went to dinner with some of Zach's extended family too at the infamous Vince's Spaghetti. It's this spaghetti place that we go to every time we visit there. Zach grew up eating there, and it's such a treat every time we go. As a matter of fact, Grandma Bonnie said that she started going there when she was pregnant with Zach's Dad, Don. So it's been a long time that the Shepherd family has been going to Vince's. It's pretty yummy I have to say. And each time we get to go there, Zach's dad gets jealous. It's like this other place in California that is a family favorite- the Crab Cooker. That's another one that Zach's dad and sister Courtney get jealous when they hear we've been there. *little side note: It's funny- once Zach sent a post card from the Crab Cooker with a drip of the red clam chowder they love from there on the postcard....) So his dad was close, but that's really not the same as actually eating it!*

Anyways, then we ate a great breakfast the next morning (grandma Bonnie is a wonderful cook and always makes sure we're well taken care of in the food category- we had Johnson's specials- another Shepherd traditional family favorite... she even sends us on our way with a cooler filled with sandwiches and snacks for the drive)... then we drove back home. The drive was pretty good- the kids did really well, and I was so thankful for that!!! :) We look forward to the next time we will get to visit Zach's grandma and family in California- it's always a wonderful time!

Also, I want to take this time to say one more thing- Zach has three cousins (Amy, Jimmy, and Robert- all siblings) that are stationed in Iraq right now. They left in October and November of 2007, and will be gone for about 15 months. When you think about it, please say a prayer for them and their safety. Anyways, just a thought that came to me.
