yesterday we were getting in the car to go to church, and it was a little cold. i said, "its a little chilly today." and he said, "no, a BIG one" it took me a few more questions, and i finally figured out that he meant that its not a little chilly, its BIG chillly, mommy!this kid is all boy, and he is rough at times too. and its just in him to be that way. no one taught him how to be rough or to grunt or to want to protect his mommy...
heres what i mean by those things:
1.protecting his mommy- when zach tickles me (yes, at times zach does take me down and tickle me, it keeps things fun, thats what i love about him :)), well dane thinks that zach is going to hurt me or something, and he immediately runs over to me and with a very deep voice he says, "hiya!!!!" and karate chops zach in the back (thats what they do when theyre wresting to make the other one stops, and they have to pretend theyre asleep and the only thing that will wake them up is a kiss.... so thats what works to get zach to stop tickling me).... and once zach "falls asleep", dane goes over to me and says "i save you". i think its just in his natural God given nature to want to rescue and save, you know? its so cool.
2. grunting- well, thats just what he does. really he does it all day long. it seems like it started when he turned two years old. that testosterone mustve really kicked in because hes always grunting!
3. being rough- well this one is self explanatory too, but heres one example that just totally suprised me. we were at our neighbors house, and they have a little lassie type dog that was stanging in their doorway. dane went right over to it to pet it, and then went behind me for a minute and was what i thought playing. well, he was getting a handful of little rocks and came back and threw them at the dog! i was so suprised i didnt even know what to say! luckily my neighbor just laughed and wasnt mad. i told him that we dont throw rocks at dogs, and thats not kind. i had him say sorry to the doggie, and he did. i really dont think that he wanted to hurt the dog, i just think he is a very curious two year old. he wondered what would happen if he did that, and he found out. the sweet little dog went back inside. cant say i blame him at all- i wouldve too! heres the thing though- you wouldnt guess that hed ever do something like that because hes such a little LOVERboy. hes so tender, sensitive, sweet, and snuggly. he loves to say i love you, loves hugs and kisses, and truly enjoys closeness with us. then hell do something like that, and i chalk it up to him figuring this world out and learning, okay that didnt get a great response. hopefully he made a little note to self, dont throw rocks at dogs. well see, if not, ill remind him, :)
i decided that his future wife will be very grateful that hes such a snuggly guy! thats such a wierd thought, future wife? wow.
