Fun, encouraging signs up to spruce up the room- that worked great!

Yesterday was a long day for my sweet sister Sarah and her husband Trevor. They had been up pretty much all night on Friday night, because they were supposed to be induced at 10pm, but they had to wait for a bed to be available at the hospital. But who can sleep when you're waiting to have a baby? So at 4am, Saturday morning, they decided to go to breakfast at Denny's and it was there that Sarah enjoyed her last meal before baby Dallas was born!

The hospital called at about 9am, and they had a bed ready for her! So they started her induction at 10:30am, and she was dialated to 2cm when they started. At about 3:30pm, they checked her again, and she was between 3 and 4 cm, and they started her with some pitocin. The nurse said her Dr was there and would probably come and break her water soon. Her contractions were getting tougher to work through, and knowing that typically when the water breaks, it gets things really going, she decided to have her epidural. So the anesthesiologist gave her the epidural at about 4:15pm, they rechecked her. At that point, she was dialated to 4cm. Then the Dr came in and broke her water at about 5pm, and she was still 4cm. She rested a bit,while some of us played cards, some chatted, and we even had a few dance parties- my dad was hilarious! (it was a full house in her room!).... they checked her again at 6:30pm, still 4cm. Then her Dr came in and talked with her and Trevor (he's wonderful- great bedside manner), and let them know that Dallas' heartrate was higher than they like to see, and since she's been dialated to 4cm for quite some time now, they're wondering what's up. They gave her some extra fluid to go into her placenta, to see if that would help his heartrate and give him more room. It could be because he's too big to come down properly, it's hard to say. So he prepped them, and said that if she is still dialated to 4cm when they recheck her at about 9:15pm, then they will do a c-section. Because that most likely means there's a reason she's not progressing like she should.

I think this took us all by surprise, and Sarah was very nervous about it. But the dr helped to calm her nerves I think. Trevor was awesome through it all too. He's so loving, has a very quiet strength, and a calmness to him that is very reassuring. He's such an awesome husband to Sarah! Well, they did recheck her at 9:15, and she still hadn't progressed. Baby Dallas' heartrate was pretty high all through this time. Looked like a C-section was going to happen. After a few more tears, Sarah asked if we could have another dance party- all day we'd been dancing to Black Eyed Peas- I Gotta Feeling... it was awesome.

They scheduled the c-section for 10:30pm, and at about 10:00, Trevor asked if we could all pray. So it was the most awesome thing- so the 13 of us in the room all held hands in that hospital room, and my grandpa and grandma prayed to our Lord. It was just so sweet, and I just appreciate their love for Jesus so much. Especially in times like these, when something happens that is unexpected and seemed a little scary, our faith is something we can stand on because it won't move. God is so good. And He knew this would happen all along, and He had Sarah and Dallas in His hands the whole time.

So they began prepping Trevor and Sarah, and we all said our goodbyes and we love you's, and headed to the waiting room. By this time there were 15 of us anxiously awaiting the healthy arrival of baby Dallas! Once they got her back, it only took a few minutes to get Dallas out. He was born at 11:01pm, was 7ln 14oz, 21 inches long. He's just precious. We didn't get to see Dallas, Sarah or Trevor until about 12:15am. Sarah had to recover, and at that time only one person was allowed in the room at a time. Trevor had taken a video on his camera of them weighing him and stuff, and handed it off to my uncle Randy, so we all oohed and ahhed in the waiting room. And my cousin Camille and I had gone upstairs to let the nurses know we were all downstairs in the big waiting room, so they could let us know when it was time to see him. And while we were waiting, we saw Trevor whisk by in his blue scrubs, holding Dallas! He was beaming. So we knew he was okay, and everything went well. Then we waited. When we got to see them all, it was just awesome! He is SO adorable!!! I think he looks like Trevor, but we shall see! It's so fun to be an aunt- I already love it!

So that is the full baby story of how Dallas came into the world!!! Sarah is doing well this morning, and I heard Trevor just changed his first diaper- and little Dallas sprayed all over the bed! Too fun!
