So we just got home yesterday afternoon from a week long vacation to California. We had a great trip- we stayed with Zach's grandma Bonnie for most of the time, and then for two days we stayed in La Jolla and went to Sea World and the beach. We got to spend time with a lot of Zach's family there, and we had a lot of fun. The kids especially enjoyed swimming in Uncle Jim and Aunt Margie's pool twice, and of course they loved sea world and the beach. When it was time to go home, Teda decided that she was going to stay with Grandma Bonnie (side note- Dane calls her "Bunnie"- he means Bonnie, but it comes out bunny- too cute). You know, I'm just going to give you a little run down of what we did each day...
*Friday- left town at about 3:25pm to drive to CA- trip went great- the kids did awesome. Thank the Lord for portable dvd players! We got to Grandma Bonnies house at about 8:45pm, just in time to set out chairs in her front lawn to see the fireworks show that started at 9. It was such an awesome show- it totally beats out many that we've seen in the past. And she had the best seats in the house! Teda loved them and said, "they're coming right for me!" and Dane wasn't so sure. He liked the first two, then said, "no! no!" and Grandma Bonnie held him the rest of the time and he ended up falling asleep. Now what's funny about California is that some of the fireworks are legal there (from what I understand) and everyone on her whole street was lighting off all kinds of fireworks! It was hilarious- you'd be having a conversation and then out of nowhere "POP!!!! BANG BANG BANG!!!!" (i can't possibly help you to understand how loud they are in your ear and scary when you're not expecting them,, but you get the idea). And that went on well into the night. But the kids slept right through it once they were in bed.
*Saturday- swimming at Uncle Jim and Aunt Margie's pool- the kids had a great time, and so did Zach. It was like a flashback of his childhood because he used to do that when he was a kid. He'd swim there all day and pick friut off their trees in the back yard, and eat it, and play shuffleboard... ahh memories. :) Then that night we went to the infamous Vince's spaghetti restaraunt. We do it every time we visit California- it's something of a tradition in Zach's family. Uncle Jim wasn't too excited to eat there because apparently they eat there a lot- and he's tired of it. I can see that- it's a good restaraunt, but not one I'd visit too often. All there is on the menu is really spaghetti or lasagna. It's good though, don't get me wrong. Anwyays, I like Uncle Jim. He makes me laugh. And Uncle Fred is so great with the kids- he just loves them. He held Jett for us when he got fussy at the table. :) And the kids got to see their great Grandpa Don too- he came for dinner too. I love that the kids get to spend time with their great grandparents. It's awesome.
*Sunday- drove to La Jolla, hung out in our hotel room (I'll be blogging on this later), and then went to dinner at Red Robin
*Monday- Sea World! We went all out- we got there at 10am and didn't leave until 6pm! We got our monie's worth for sure- it was tiring, but very fun. The kids enjoyed seeing the dolphin show, a pet show (with dogs and cats doing tricks), shamu show, the sea lion show, and a sesame street 4 d show. We also saw starfish, a few aquariums, a shark exhibit, and a few other things I can't think of right now. :) It was great. And Jett did awesome- I just had him in the baby carrier on me the whole time.
*Tuesday- we went to the beach. the kids just loved it. and the weather was amazing- no sun in the sky- and windy. so nice! We also had lunch with Zach's good friend, Nick. He lives in San Diego and met us for lunch. Then we drove back to Fontana to Grandma Bonnie's house.
*Wednesday- We hung out during the day, and after nap time we went to Uncle Jim and Aunt Margie's house for a pizza and swim night. We saw lots of Zach's family that he hadn't seen in a long time, and he loved getting to catch up with them. Teda loved swimming in the pool- she's getting really good in the water! (her aunt Judy has been working with her!)
*Thursday- we left that morning to come home. The drive was again good- the kids did great.
Then we came home to a wonderful monsoon storm. So it wasn't too hot! So we get to ease ourselves back into the heat. Well, that was our trip, sorry for the long windedness of my blog. We had a blast! And we can't wait to go back again soon.
